Allan Houser is one of the 20th Century's most
important artists and one of Santa Fe, New Mexico’s best known artists. Known primarily as a sculptor (stone and bronze), he was also a painter and a teacher. His art work is featured in museums, private collections and corporate collections throughout the world. Although Allan Houser passed away in 1994, his work lives on! You can experience his magnificent art work at the Allan Houser Gallery, which is located 125 Lincoln Avenue, in Santa Fe. “Allan Houser Works of Stone”. The opening is on Friday, August 17th, 2012 from 5 PM – 7 PM. In addition to viewing his work at the Santa Fe gallery, you can also experience his work at the Allan Houser Studio, Sculpture Gardens and Compound, which is located 25 minutes south of Santa Fe (between Cerrillos, NM and Galisteo, NM). Your trip to the compound will be a memorable one! The compound is a fabulous, 110 acre estate which encompasses Houser’s archives, studio house, sculpture garden, visitor center and a another gallery. The sculpture garden is 10 acres of beautiful, Juniper covered land, which is complete with walking trails and 85 of his outdoor works. A two - three hour
guided tour of the compound can be arranged for a fee of $25 per person. If you are an art or nature lover, then this tour is one of the best
